I keep coming back to this episode. for those going through the comments, I've got good news. When he takes the cube out of the paper bag, he only shows 4 sides - yellow, orange, green and red. We don't see the white and blue sides solved.

The one he gave to simon wasnt solved it was only done on 3 sides but when he puts it on the desk and the camera pans out you can see the unsolved sides. And the algorithm needed for that is pretty straightforward and easy to do.
